The Distance Ladder Drill

The Distance Ladder Drill (Master Speed Control)

Most three-putts happen because of poor distance control, not poor aim.

The Distance Ladder Drill teaches you to control speed by focusing on how far the ball rolls past the hole.

  • 40 feet

How to Perform the Drill

Start at the closest distance and attempt to roll the ball so it finishes just past the hole, ideally within a two-foot zone.

After each successful putt, move to the next distance.

The goal is to move up the ladder without leaving a putt short or blowing it well past.

Why It Works

This drill builds a feel for putting speed, which is the most important factor in avoiding three-putts.

When your speed control improves, long putts begin to finish much closer to the hole.
