The 3-Foot Circle Drill
The 3-Foot Circle Drill (Build Automatic Putts)
One of the quickest ways to lower scores is to eliminate missed short putts. The 3-Foot Circle Drill is designed to build confidence and consistency from the distance where most strokes are either saved or lost.
How to Set It Up
Place six tees in a circle around the hole, each roughly three feet away.
This creates a full circle of short putts from multiple angles.
Golf Course Strategy: Where Rounds Are Won and Lost
How to Perform the Drill
Start at any tee and attempt to make each putt in sequence around the circle.
The key rule:
If you miss one, start the drill over.
The goal is to make all six putts in a row before finishing the drill.
Why It Works
This drill forces you to build confidence under small amounts of pressure. Making a few short putts is easy. Making six in a row requires focus and solid mechanics.
Over time, these short putts begin to feel automatic.
