The Start Line Aim Drill (Stop Missing Before You Even Hit It)
Most golfers think they miss putts because of stroke.
They don’t.
They miss because they’re aimed wrong
The Setup (At Home or Practice Green)
All you need:
- A ball
- A putter
- A straight 6–8 foot putt
- A reference line (chalk line, string, or straight edge)
The Coin Drill for Center Face Contact
The Drill
- Set the ball on your line
- Set your putter face square to that line
- Align your body to match
Then:
Roll the putt and watch the start direction
Goal
Ball starts on your intended line every time
Not left.
Not right.
How to Build a Consistent Golf Swing That Holds Up Under Pressure
What This Fixes
- Poor alignment
- Misread compensation
- Inconsistent start lines
The Truth
Most golfers aim:
- slightly left
- then push the putt
or
- aim right
- then pull it
That’s manipulation, not putting
Why It Works
If your aim is correct:
You don’t need to “fix” the stroke mid-putt
Pivot Take
You can’t roll it on line
if you’re not aimed on line.
Fix that first.
